Most brides believe the biggest part of their wedding day is the dress (with a close second being tying the knot with the love of their life, of course!) And although this is a dress that is normally only worn once, plenty of brides go to great lengths to secure the dress of their dreams. However, some brides are adamant that their wedding dress shouldn’t have to break the bank and we can’t help but agree.
Wedded Wonderland, Australia’s biggest bridal site, looked into how much cash women were happy to hand over for their dress and the results were very surprising! Out of 515 women surveyed it was revealed that brides and brides to be were happy to part with $5,180 in exchange for their dress. According to Easy Weddings’ Annual Australian Wedding Survey results the average price of a wedding dress in 2017 is $2,552. The previous year it was $2,475.
When it comes to how much brides are willing to spend to secure the garment love of their life, the price fluctuates from state to state. Queensland brides spend a modest average of $1,807 on their dress – a price we can definitely get behind (wouldn’t it be nice to be a QLD bride right about now). However, at the opposite end of the scale sits Victoria, with brides parting with an average of $2,745 for a single white dress. Brides in Tasmania, Western Australia, NT and NSW generally spend between $2,600 and $2,400 whilst South Australian brides and brides from the ACT spent around $1980 on their dresses.
