Plans Change… Love doesn’t: Happily Ever After during COVID-19

There are few stories we love to hear more right now than how you, our gorgeous bride-babes, let love conquer all despite everything going on, and managed to say ‘I do’ in the time of COVID-19.

To all of our 2020 bridal babes - we see you! And our hearts go out to you during these desperately difficult times. We see your flexibility, your resilience and most importantly the power of your love. Whether you have had to cancel or postpone your wedding, or your nuptials have had to turn into something entirely different from what you first envisioned, it truly is inspirational to see how you’ve made it work!

Gorgeous OC Bride Kyrani and long time lover Brendan have been engaged for over 4 years. The couple had finally locked down a date and venue when the first natural disaster of 2020 occurred and the venue was sadly burnt down. Fast forward to March, and this beautiful couple had to make the difficult decision to move the date of their wedding yet again due to the world wide pandemic of COVID-19.

Instead of letting the restrictions get the better of them, Kyrani and Brendan were determined to elope in a very intimate way with both their mums and Brendan’s father, and Kyrani rocking the gorgeous lacey, tea-length WG3925.

“It was the most magical and extremely windy day. The dress was absolutely perfect. We took some photos and finished off with a parking lot pizza party… I wouldn’t change it for the world!”

Although the loved-up couple couldn’t possibly wait until their rescheduled wedding date to officially be able to call each other husband and wife, they are hoping for a third time lucky and are holding a big celebration in December so they can include all of their friends and family.

“I look forward to wearing my second Oleg Cassini dress in December (hopefully) for our actual wedding day.”

Another couple who refused to let the virus stand in the way of their nuptials is the charming newly-weds Maree and Liam. The young duo found a rather unique way to say ‘I do’ during these uncertain times. Their original vision had catered for upwards of 200 people to make room for both their large families and friends. Maree, someone who places great importance on the value of family and friends, refused to let the new restrictions prevent her from marrying the man of her dreams.

Instead of waiting it out and delaying their nuptials Liam and Maree felt they needed to honour the commitment they had made to each other. The newly-weds look back on the decision as a way to ostensibly convey their love and commitment to one another even when circumstances make it somewhat hard or inconvenient to do so.

“The decision was bittersweet - it was upsetting that we couldn’t have our family and friends with us on the day but it felt very much right for us to honour our commitment. For me, it was a way of saying to my now husband that I love him and commit myself to him even when it’s hard or inconvenient. Our wedding was always for the two of us and the rest was just a bonus.”

Nothing says social distancing like a driveway wedding, and let me tell you we are all about it! Maree and her husband-to-be didn’t let COVID-19 take their day away from them and they could not have been happier with the result.Adopting the new wedding trend of 2020, designed to allow couples to include their nearest and dearest without putting anyone’s health at risk and respecting government rules, Liam and Maree live streamed their big day.

“It was actually a little overwhelming how many people were watching! We’ve postponed our reception and hope to celebrate with our family and friends when it is safe to do so.”

The couple agreed thatthe moment their wedding bands were placed on their fingers it all became real.

“When we had our wedding bands on it actually hit home - we’d made it happen. Up until that point it had all felt surreal.”

Maree wore one of our all time faves V3848 and looked like an absolute vision.

“I absolutely loved wearing it on the day and I’ve received so many compliments on it! Thanks for such a beautiful dress.”
